Song of the week (4)

Another song on request: A real classic this time: Nothing else matters by Metallica. Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1981 (a long... long... time ago, when some of us were still very young or others weren't even born!). Metallica's line-up has primarily consisted of Ulrich, guitarist, James Hetfield, vocalist and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett. A funny anecdote is that James Hetfield wrote this song while on the phone with his girlfriend! Since he held the phone with one hand, he plucked the four open strings with the other, which eventually made up the first two bars of the songs. The lyrics were also dedicated to his girlfriend, which talk about being "so close, no matter how far", indicating the bond they shared even when Hetfield was on tour.

Great! I love this group, especially this song, which is one of the best ballads ever made. I did not know it was written that way.
Remember that The heavy metal ballads have been listed as the best ballads of all styles of music.
